A career in radiology is an exciting career field that has proven to have a high job demand which ensures job security throughout the entire career of technicians in this field. Let schooling is required, how much money can you make as a radiology technician and what’s the job outlook for a radiology technician?

In general, a radiology technician takes x-rays using radiation to diagnose issues or problems a patient may be suffering from. Some of these issues may include bone breaks or fractures, internal organ problems and even soft tissue problems. You will need to be able to position patients in such a manner that the x-ray equipment will be able to photograph the correct part of the body in the best possible position to give the physician the ability to determine the exact problem the patient may be suffering from.

As a technician you will deal with different people constantly on a daily basis. Because of this, you will need to practice good people skills along with patients and the ability to comfort people even when they are in pain. A radiology technician spent much of the day on their feet, and typically works a normal 40 hour work week. Some jobs however require that a radiology technician be able to work nights and shift work, which can include working slightly awkward schedules that change from week to week.

Schooling for a career in the radiology field can be completed in as little as 1 to 4 years depending on what level of degree you were going for. Certifications and even diplomas can be earned through residency programs or independent medical school programs. The educational route that you choose to take will also play a large role on the amount of money you can expect to earn annually as a radiology tech. More schooling will in most cases result in more money. There are many schools including community colleges that offer radiology technician programs that are based solely on getting you the education you need to learn the skills needed in the radiology field.

How much money can you expect to earn annually as a radiology technician? The amount of money earned annually is often determined by a few variables in employment. These variables include what facility you are employed at whether it be a hospital, physician’s office or veterinary clinic. Another variable includes your geographic location. Geographic location affects the average radiology tech salary based on that location specific economic situation. Pay is always based off of your surrounding economy. Your schooling background which we talked about earlier is definitely going to affect your pay as well. Another variable that will help you as time goes on is your experience level. The more experience you have under your belt they hire position in more responsibility you can gain from your employer. With more responsibility comes a higher annual radiology Tech salary.

As a general overview of the career description and schooling required to become a radiology technician, hopefully you can see that if you are planning to go back to school that a career choice in radiology is an exciting one. This career field is never dull or boring and will keep you on your toes. You will constantly get to meet new people and be able to learn and grow in a field that is ever changing and advancing as technology grows.

If you are considering going either back to school, or going straight to college from highschool, why not consider a vocational school. Trade schools offer many hands on training courses that help you learn the skills needed for a job as quickly as possible.

One popular course that many trade schools offer is heating and air condtioning. In a world of modern technology, who can live without air conditioning? Talk about job security. Many businesses view heating and cooling as more of a necessity than a want now days. A career in the HVAC indurstry will assure you a job for many years to come.

In 2002 there was 249,000 HVAC mechanics working in the United States alone. There will always be a need for more heating and airconditioning mechanics here in the states, so do not hesitate if you are considering joining this field.

Many people wonder how long a HVAC course takes. Well this depends on exactly what course you are attending. It can take as long as 2 years, or can be completed in as little as 6 months. Some of the jobs available are in commercial heating and air, or in the whole sale market, the retail market, service and repair, and new installations. With an average wage of about 20 dollars per hour, an HVAC degree just may be the way to go.

It is never to late to go back to school, ever! If you are tired of your dead end job, it may be time for you to give it up, and start your life in a new direction. Quitting your job to go back to school may not be an option avaibable to you at the present time. Its a good thing many technical schools and junior colleges offer night courses!!

Technical schools are usually located all over the place, making them convinent to attend. They are cheaper than most traditional colleges and you can still apply for grants and loans.

One thing that makes trade schools so nice, is that they are focued on getting you in and out as fast as possible. You concentrate specifically on the courses needed to get the job you want. The need for basic courses while attending a trade school are usually not needed, allowing you to get a degree in the field you want very quickly.
